Music Awards
The various international music awards remain a great way to pick the best in popular music from the last year. And each has its own unique style and taste - from the more mainstream and hugely popular Brit Awards, through the NME Awards voted for by fans themselves, to the Mercury Music Prize, where more independent and lesser known bands are nominated alongside established stadium bands.
NME Music Awards - 2008
The NME Awards 2008, Best British Band went to Arctic Monkeys. They also picked
up Best Track and Best Video for two tracks off their album Favourite Worst Nightmare. Other winners include Kate Nash, Radiohead,
and Klaxons. The Mighty Boosh won the Best TV Show.

Brit Music Awards
Mark Ronson won the headline, Best British Male Solo Artist Award at this years Brit Awards. He joins other winners including,
Take That, Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters who all won two awards each. Mika was also among the
winners, taking the best British breakthrough act.

Q Music Awards
"Made of Bricks" by Kate Nash - winner of the Q Awards Breakthrough Artist, 2007. Kylie Minogue
was named Q Idol of the Year and Johnny Marr, formerly of The
Smiths was given a Q Lifetime Achievement award.

Music of Black Origin - MOBO Awards
"Shine" by Estelle - awarded MOBO Best International Act. She also picked up
Best Song for the single "American Boy". There were double awards too for Chris Brown (Best International Act + Best
R&B/Soul) and Leona Lewis (Best Video + Best Album).

"Amy Winehouse" picked up yet another award - this time it
was the The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters who recognized her by naming "Love Is A Losing Game" as the
Best Song Musically & Lyrically for 2008 at the annual Ivor Novello Awards.
