Poetry Book Awards
Many of the international literary awards also hand out awards in a separate poetry category. Many of these are important in their own right - the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for example has been presented to outstanding American authors since the 1920's.
US National Poetry Award 2007
"Time and Materials" by Robert Hass was awarded the Poetry Award
at the National Book Awards in the US.

"Tilt" by Jean Sprackland won the Costa Poetry Award 2007
and now goes forward with the other four Costa Category winners to be judged for the title of overall Costa
Book of the Year.

"Failure" by Philip Schultz and Tilt by Jean Sprackland were the
joint winners of the Pulitzer Poetry Prize for 2008.

"The Drowned Book" by Sean O'Brien - winner of the T.S. Eliot
Prize for Poetry, 2007. This work also won the other major prize for poetry in the UK, the 2007
Forward Poetry Prize.

"Sunday at the Skin Launderette" by Kathryn Simmonds won the Best First Collection.
Mick Imlah won the headline Prize, the Best Collection, with "The Lost Leader".
