The Edgar Allan Poe Awards - or Edgars as they are popularly known - are awarded by the Mystery Writers of America. The flagship Best Novel Award has previously been won by some notable thriller writers, including Ian Rankin, John le Carré and Dick Francis (the latter, three times in three different decades!).
